The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
