The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
