The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
