The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
