۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
