The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
