The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
