The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
