The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
