The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
