The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
