The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
