The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 you pay attention 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
