The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, "Will we really return to our former state?" 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
