The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
