The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 you pay attention 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
