The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
