The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
