Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
