The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
