The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
