He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
