He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
