He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
