He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
