He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
