He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
