He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 most exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
