He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
