He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
