He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
