He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
