He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
