The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
