He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Not this way - this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure of germination 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
