He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
