He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
