He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
