He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
