He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
