He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
