He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
