The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
