The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
