The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the breath of morning 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
