The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
