The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
