The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
