The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
