The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
