The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
